That reminds me.. Apparently anti-freeze & coolant have a “sweet” taste to them, and animals will always go for it (and die after they drink it).
In college my car overheated and I took it to the shop. I had holes in my heater hoses, and they said that squirrels probably got a taste of a drop or two and chewed holes in my rubber heater hoses to get some more.

They add a bittering agent to new stuff. But ya its really sweet and then tastes terrible. I had a mysterious puddle in my driveway and for some reason decided tasting it would be the only way to know what it was. It doesn’t take a lot to kill a human, so I can see how a squirrel could ingest enough first try to die.
